I'm dreaming of a.....green Christmas!

Well here we are in Maui, it is so beautiful here, and we really appreciate it, because of the weather we left at home: It was so cold and snowy, that we left a good 45 minutes earlier for the airport than we normally would have. Luckily we got there with lots of time, because the airport was super busy. The lineups were huge. John has a Platinum Aeroplan American Express card through work, and if you show it you can go into the Executive Class check-in so we breezed by the line-up and into the line for security, which wasn't that bad. Our flight to Vancouver was supposed to leave at 1:20pm, but it was delayed, so we ended up being at the Calgary airport for close to 4 hours. We were starting to get nervous that we might miss our connecting flight in Vancouver, and then they called our flight to board.
Here's the boys killing time, bored at YYC:
We ended up leaving Calgary at about 3:30pm and had enough time to get through customs in Vancouver, grab some burgers and hop on the plane. It was probably the first time that we took food onto the plane, and I am so glad we did because they didn't serve a meal. Which I thought was kind of weird, usually for a 6 hour or over flight they give you something, but this time they only gave us pretzels. I guess they are trying to cut costs. It's not like the food is spectacular anyway. The flight was pretty good, a little bumpy, but nothing major. I think we got the only plane that Air Canada owns that doesn't have the upgraded entertainment system. This plane had one screen at the front of the plane, and being near the back I couldn't see a thing. But the movies they were showing weren't ones I wanted to see anyways so no loss. I mostly played Zelda on my Nintendo DS, which I am totally addicted to. I know it's a little geeky, but I love it.
I felt bad for the boys, although they seemed to amuse themselves with games on their Ipods, and with Nick trying to teach Matt how to do the Rubix Cube. And later on they watched movies on Nick's laptop, so I think they were fine. John mostly listened to his Ipod and did Sudukos on his DS. Yeah we're hardcore gamers.
Despite our flight from Vancouver leaving a little late, we made it to Maui early at 9:15 pm. John left right away to Hertz to pick up our rental car and the boys and I stayed behind to wait for luggage. Hertz has this feature so that you can check-in online, and then if you wait in line at the location for longer than 10 minutes you get a $50 credit. So John was really quick. We got my bags, John, Matt and Jack's bags, and all the golf clubs, but not Nick's bag. We kept waiting and waiting, but it never came. So we had to fill out a lost baggage claim which took forever, but Nick stayed in good spirits so it wasn't too bad. So about an hour and a half after we landed we were on our way to our condo in Wailea.
Wailea is about a 15-20 minute drive from the Kahalui airport, so we made it in no time. Which was a relief because we were all getting tired and a little bit grumpy.
We found our way quite easily thank to our new Garmin GPS. Last year John and I decided that instead of buying each other gifts for Christmas, we would just pool our buying power and buy ourselves one big gift together. So this year we decided on a GPS, which we thought would be really helpful while travelling. I was a little nervous as to whether or not it would work in Hawaii, but it did and it was very accurate!

Once inside, we had a quick look around, got the boys settled, and went to bed!
Can't wait for tomorrow!
