Las Vegas Day 1

Okay so Las Vegas is probably not the most exciting place for me to write about because we have been here so many times, but I have found that knowing I will be writing about it makes me see it in a new light.
We fly Air Canada a lot because we do our best to fly on points so we had to leave very early Halloween morning. Air Canada changed their flight times from Calgary to Vegas, it used to be this great 7:00pm flight and now it's an ugly 8:40am flight. Which really isn't that bad because then you get the whole day in Vegas, it's just that you need to be at the airport at like 6:40am, not cool for non-morning people! (ahhh muffin, yeah I know!)
So we woke up at 5:45am, rolled out of bed, hit the showers, loaded up the suitcases, kissed the dog and off we went. The boys were all snug in their beds, they don't even get up this early to go to school!! I unfortunately woke up with a raging case of Laryngitis and had barely a whisper for a voice so I also loaded up on the cold pills. Taking off and landing with a sore throat and an ear ache really suck, but I survived!
Traffic to YYC was surprisingly good, minus a few bad drivers, so we made it to the airport in record time. The flight was uneventful, except that the flight director was dressed as a witch and they collected money for a Halloween draw. It was cute. I watched the Hulk with Ed Norton, which was actually quite good, and John watched The X-Files movie and was quite happy with it too. I am a bit of a scaredy-cat so it was good that he previewed it for me, I might watch it on the way home. Gotta love Air Canada's entertainment system!!
We landed in Vegas, terminal 2, thank goodness, got our luggage and headed out to catch the rental car bus!! I love Las Vegas's new Rental Car Centre, but there never seems to be enough shuttle buses to get there, luckily we squished our way onto the first one, and left lots of angry travellers behind.
Thanks to my extremely helpful sister-in-law Cass, we signed up for Dollar Express and saved a ton of time. We bypassed the huge line inside and headed right for the Express line in the garage.
We also did the Lock Low and Go option based on her stellar advice and saved a lot of money. So we wound up in a Chrysler Pacifica:
The Pacifica isn't bad, and I couldn't believe that it had an analog clock. It's definitely no Toyota Highlander or Rav4, but it's not bad for a Chrysler.

We decided to stop at our favorite store, Whole Foods, and pick up some fresh fruit and healthy snacks. I so wish there was one in Calgary. As we walked in the store you would not believe the security guard. He was heavily armed and wearing a bullet-proof vest!! In the GROCERY STORE!! I would have loved to take a photo of him, but I was way too scared. No wonder Americans live in fear! I also picked up some really yummy looking tea to add to my stash, can't wait to try it!So after Whole Foods, we were off to the Wynn. We are staying at the Wynn until Monday for the MDA (Motor Dealers Association) convention. The Wynn is really nice, a lot like the Belagio. Lots of mosaic tile work, and high end stores.

But you haven't seen anything until you see the rooms, and sleep in the beds. The beds and linens are out of this world. So comfortable!! I love the pillows!!

The other cool thing is that the curtains are controlled electronically, so they open and close at the push of a button.

Our room didn't face the strip but we did have a gorgeous view of the golf course. Sorry, for the photos, I brought our little old 5 mega pixel Fuji and the quality just isn't that good. But it was way easier than hauling my Rebel everywhere. Maybe one of these days I'll invest in a better quality point and shoot.

By this time, I'm pretty worn out due to my cold, so John and I had a little rest before lunch. More to follow.....
